Core Food-Support Services

Core food-support services refer to the provision of essential food items to clients in need, including perishable and non-perishable food items, without any financial cost or additional requirements such as volunteer participation, donation obligations, or engagement in faithbased activities.

Purpose

The purpose of this policy is to ensure that the Kamloops Food Bank provides core food-support services to clients, without additional costs or conditions, and to establish guidelines for overseeing, maintaining, and making publicly available the policies and procedures related to these services.

Scope

This policy applies to all staff members, volunteers, clients, donors, and stakeholders of the Kamloops Food Bank.

Oversight and Maintenance of Policies and Procedures

  • The Kamloops Food Bank shall maintain documented policies and procedures outlining the provision of core food-support services to clients, without cost or conditions.
  • The President & CEO or designated individual shall oversee and approve the development, implementation, and maintenance of these policies and procedures.

Public Posting of Policies and Procedures

  • The Kamloops Food Bank shall ensure that its policies and procedures directing the provision of core food-support services are posted and accessible to clients, donors, volunteers, and stakeholders.

Accessibility of Policies and Procedures

  • Clients & Stakeholders: shall be informed of the availability of the policies and procedures directing core food-support services.
  • Staff Members & Volunteers: shall be responsible for directing clients to the physical location of the posted policies and procedures or providing them with the link to access them online.

Training and Awareness

  • Staff Members & Volunteers: shall receive training on the policies and procedures governing the provision of core food-support services.
  • Clients: shall be informed of their rights to receive core food-support services without any financial cost or additional conditions.

Review and Revision

This policy shall be reviewed annually to ensure its effectiveness and relevance. Any revisions to the policy shall be approved by the President & CEO or designated authority.

Communication

This policy shall be communicated to all staff members, volunteers, clients, donors, and stakeholders through staff meetings, orientation sessions, and the organization’s website.

By implementing this policy, the Kamloops Food Bank reaffirms its commitment to providing core food-support services to clients in need without any financial cost or additional conditions.

This policy has been reviewed and approved by the Kamloops Food Bank’s Board of Directors on July 23, 2024.
